Handled one at a time
If you send your slides in carousels, magazines or other holders we remove your slides one at a time,
process it and replace it back into the holder just as it was (unless you want your carousels or other
holders discarded). We do not use mechanical feeders. Your slides are handled carefully, by hand, one
at a time.
Color and exposure adjustments
An Adobe Photoshop expert will adjust color balance, exposure and contrast. Experience is crucial. While
we can't perform miracles we can usually improve the overall appearance of the image.
The red area indicates the approximate portion of the slide image that is cropped. The blue area
indicates the portion of the slide image that will be included in the JPG file.

Surface Dust
Slides are dust magnets! Depending on where and how your slides were stored they may have very little
dust on them or they may be very dusty. Dust appears as black spots when the image is displayed. Every
slide we process is cleaned with a Kinetronics StaticVac©. By doing this most surface dust particles are
removed but inevitably some dust will remain. Fortunately viewing even fairly dusty slides as a slide show
on a TV or computer isn't a serious problem. The dust is no more intrusive than if you viewed the slide
using a slide projector. For images you want to make prints from you can, if desired, use a photo editor to
remove any dust and scratch flaws that we missed before making prints.
Cropping
Slide images are cropped as shown below:

DATA folder
All slide images are stored as low compression (high quality) JPG files in a data folder on the DVD for
access through a computer. Within the DATA folder each chapter/group of slide images are grouped into
individual folders so it is easy to locate a particular image. Average file size from a 35mm slide at
2000dpi is about 3.5mb. At 3000dpi average file size from a 35mm slide is about 7mb.
Printing
The size print that can be made using the jpg we create is dependent upon the size of the slide. The table
below lists 3 common slide sizes and the largest size print that should be made from the jpg when
printed at 300dpi (photo quality).
